What is Mental Health?
Well according to google its “a state of mental well-being that enables people to cope with the stresses of life, realize their abilities, learn well and work well, and contribute to their community”. But its a lot more than that. There are many differnt Mental Health problems that can effect our daily lives.
Some common Mental Health Illnesses include…
Depression
Imagine feeling a heavy weight on your shoulders, making it hard to enjoy things you used to love. That's what depression can feel like—a persistent sadness and loss of interest that colors your world gray.
Anxiety
Anxiety is like having a constant worry or fear about things that might happen, even if there's no real danger. It can make your heart race, cause sweaty palms, and leave you feeling restless or tense. Everyone feels anxious sometimes, but when these feelings are strong and last a long time, they can get in the way of daily life.
Bipolar Disorder
Bipolar disorder is like riding a rollercoaster of emotions. One moment, you might feel on top of the world—full of energy and excitement, even taking big risks. The next, you could feel really low, like everything is hard and nothing seems enjoyable.
Eating Disorders
Eating disorders are like a tough battle with food and body image. They can make people eat too little, eat too much, or follow unhealthy eating patterns. For instance, anorexia involves avoiding food and losing a lot of weight, bulimia means eating a lot and then trying to get rid of it quickly, and binge-eating disorder is about eating large amounts uncontrollably.
Body Dysmorphia
Body dysmorphia, or body dysmorphic disorder (BDD), is a mental health condition where a person can't stop thinking about perceived flaws or defects in their appearance, even if these flaws are minor or not noticeable to others. Even small flaws can seem huge and unbearable, making it hard to focus on anything else. This can lead to constant checking in mirrors, excessive grooming, or avoiding social situations altogether.
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
PTSD, or post-traumatic stress disorder, is like having an unwanted movie of a traumatic event replay in your mind, over and over. This can lead to flashbacks, nightmares, and intense anxiety. People with PTSD might go out of their way to avoid reminders of the trauma, and often feel jumpy or on edge.
